I’m so happy that you’re here!
Hi, I’m Michelle.
I’m a former civil engineering professional turned serious bread baker. I have a life-long passion for learning and enjoy gaining new perspectives that enrich my understanding of the world. Growing up, I always had an appreciation and love for the arts but that love took a temporary backseat during my collegiate career. Fortunately, after I graduated from college my dormant love for the arts began to blossom again. Among the many art forms that I joyfully embraced, the culinary arts had a particular allure that drew me in.
How it all started
The very first yeast bread I ever baked was challah from a recipe in Rose Levi Beranbaum’s book The Bread Bible. The moment I was introduced to the methods and techniques of bread baking, I knew I was hooked for life! And without a doubt, challah is still my favorite bread to bake to this day.
The Beauty of Bread Baking
After many years of bread baking, both personally and professionally, I was awakened to the reality that it often mimics the process of life. Bread baking uniquely possesses the qualities of combining simple and humble ingredients that undergo a process and, over time, developments into an awe-inspiring result that culminates with a remarkable rise. I adore the joy that a fresh-made loaf of bread creates with its’ incredible aromas, delicious flavors, and beautiful shapes.
Why dopo exist
Challah, which refers to a dough portion or dedicated portion of dough, was the inspiration behind the name dopo. I am eternally grateful to all of the devoted souls that have baked challah throughout the annals of history. Through their diligence and love to preserve its’ recipes and traditions, challah has been a beautiful gift for me to discover and explore. And with a passionate desire to express my gratitude, I’m now passing this gift along to you. I’m here to tell you about my experiences and share the information I’ve learned so that you too will be inspired to share what you know with an elevated and open heart.
